Prof. Dr. Dario Cebic Dario Cebic was born in Zagreb and learned piano and violin from an early age before transferring to double bass, piano, musicology, music theory and composition. He attended elementary and secondary school in Zagreb, after which he started higher education in piano, composition, double bass, music science, music culture, music theory, music pedagogy with modull music theory, conducting and musicology. In 2007 he finished his study of music pedagogy with a modull music theory. In the same year he starts doctoral studies in music science. In 2012 he finished doctoral study (Dr. Phil) at Universität für Musik and darstellende Kunst in Graz, and postgraduate study in composition at Universität für Musik and darstellende Kunst in Vienna under professor Michael Obst. Specialisation: 'Hans Eisler” Hochschule für Musik, Berlin; 'Universität“ Freiburg, 'Hochschule für Musik“ Frankfurt and 'Impuls Academy“ (Austria). He attended specialisation with many famous musicologists and composers, like Karl Heinz Stockhausen, Renato Miani, Oscar van Dillen, Dieter Mack, Mario Pagotto and Martijn Padding.
He was awarded in 2020 by Croatian President for art, pedagogical work, and composition.
In 2019, he won Award from Croatian Tamburitsa Association for “Kromatska fantazija“, Osijek. In 2014, he was titled Artist of the year/Artist des Jahres (als Komponist) by International Art Academy, Greece. In 2013, he was awarded by the Croatian Ministry of Culture for “Symphony for large Orchestra”. In 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018, he obtained the recognition of Croatian Association of Music and Dance Teachers (Hrvatsko društvo glazbenih i plesnih pedagoga)
He is a member of International Society for Contemporary Music, Austrian Composers Society, Styrian Tone Arts Association, Croatian Musicological Society, Austrian Music Council.
A great number of his compositions, music analysis, musicology and composition articles, music theory were published. His opus includes more than 1000 concert pieces and more than 40 pieces for orchestra (12 symphonies). One of his most important pieces Distance IV was made in collaboration with a famous Spanish percussionist Manuel Alcaraz Clemente, as a reaction to climate change in the world, the melting of glaciers, the depiction of the night along Antarctica, as well as other natural phenomena. He was the 1st Prize winner in the international music competitions in Paris, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Prague, Bari.etc.
